1. San Francisco (6-11)- (Buy) The 49ers are coming off a forgettable, injury plagued 2024 season the ended with losses in 7 of the final 8 games in route to a last place finish in the NFC West. On offense Star RB Christian McCaffrey was limited to just 4 games due to Achilles and knee injuries while top receiver Brandon Aiyuk's season was cut due to torn right ACL in Week 7 against the Chiefs. A familiar face in Robert Saleh returns to the Bay Area to lead the defense, which fell from 4th in the NFL in points allowed in 2023 to 27th last season. Saleh will rely on stalwarts Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, but the pass rush will get a huge boost with the addition of rookie first round pick DE Mykel Williams who registered 14 sacks in 3 seasons at Georgia. The 49ers will be the beneficiary of a last place schedule that doesn't feature a playoff team from 2024 until Week 5 against the Rams and includes matchups against the Bears, Browns, Giants, Titans, and Saints. Barring another rash of injuries this is a team with its' sights set on recapturing the NFC West.
OVER/UNDER TOTAL WINS 10.5
2. Green Bay (11-6)- (Sell) The Packers won 11 games and reached the Playoffs despite an uncharacteristic 1-5 record against the NFC North. RB Josh Jacobs rushed for 1,329 which was six-best in the NFL. The defense improved drastically under first year coordinator Jeff Hafley and added star DE Micah Parsons while losing 3-time pro bowl DT Kenny Clark. QB Jordan Love was unable to build off his sensational finish in 2023 completing just 63.1% of his passes while throwing 11 INT's for the second consecutive season including 3 in the Wild Card loss to the Eagles. The O-line lost durable Center Josh Myers, who missed only 1 start the past 3 seasons, to the Texans and rookie 1st round WR Matthew Golden (Texas) must step up in the absence of Christian Watson, who tore his ACL in week 18 last season, is expected to miss a good portion of 2025. The schedule is once again challenging with 9 playoff teams from a year ago and if Love is unable to return to his late 2023 form another early playoff exit could be in store for the Packers.
OVER/UNDER TOTAL WINS 10.5
3. New England (4-13)- (Buy) New HC and former Patriot Mike Vrabel offers much needed stability following a disastrous 4-13 season under Jerod Mayo. The addition of left tackle Will Campbell (4th overall pick, LSU) along with free-agents Garrett Bradbury (Center) and Morgan Moses (Right Tackle) should shore up the O-line which yielded 52 sacks last season. Rookie QB Drake Maye showed plenty of promise completing 66.6% of his passes and will reap the benefit of having veteran offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to work alongside. The defense, which generated a league worst 28 sacks, landed big-time free agent DT Milton Williams (Philadelphia) who is coming off a 7 sack season a year ago. The schedule features only 5 games against teams that reached the playoffs in 2024 giving Patriots plenty of hope for a return to the postseason.
OVER/UNDER TOTAL WINS 8.5
