Bad News- the Bulldogs' path to the College Football Playoff includes road games against Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss as well as a date with Clemson in Atlanta to kick off 2024

2. Texas (12-2)
Good News- junior QB Quinn Ewers is coming off a 3,479-yard, 22 TD season and the defensive front 7 should again dominate
Bad News- the Longhorns lost 5 starters on offense (3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE) to the 2024 NFL Draft and the secondary must be fixed after getting torched for 254.4 yards per game a year ago

3. LSU (10-3)
Good News- the O-line will again be a strength with 4 starters back and projected junior starting QB Garrett Nussmeier turned in a 395-yard 3 TD performance in the 35-31 Reliaquest Bowl win over Wisconsin
Bad News- the defense was woeful last season forcing HC Brian Kelly to shake up his staff

4. Ole Miss (11-2)
Good News- the offense is strong across the board led by senior QB Jaxson Dart who has thrown 43 TD’s in 2 seasons in Oxford
Bad News- the defense allowed just 22.1 points per game last year but ranked outside the top 70 nationally in both rush and pass yards allowed per game

5. Alabama (12-2)
Good News- Kalen DeBoer has won 37 games in just 4 seasons as a HC and appears to be the right guy to elevate QB Jalen Milroe to Heisman contender
Bad News- the Crimson Tide secondary has plenty of talent but lacks experience

6. Missouri (11-2)
Good News- the Tigers’ offense flourished under first-year coordinator Kirby Moore and the schedule sets up nice for a run to the SEC Title
Bad News- the defense took a hit losing coordinator Blake Baker to the same position at LSU

7. Oklahoma (10-3)
Good News- the defense took a drastic step forward in HC Brent Venables second season and has the potential to be even better in 2024 led by 3-year starting senior LB Danny Stutsman
Bad News- the O-line lost all 5 starters as well as Dillon Gabriel’s (3,660 yards and 30 TD’s) at QB

8. Tennessee (9-4)
Good News- freshman QB Nico Iamaleava gained valuable experience leading the Vols to a 35-0 Citrus Bowl victory over Iowa
Bad News- the secondary has been a glaring weakness since HC Josh Heupel’s arrival in 2021 and must replace all 4 starters along with a handful of backups

9. Texas A&M (7-6)
Good News- new HC and former Aggies’ defensive coordinator Mike Elko has a proven QB in sophomore Connor Weigman (16 TD’s in 9 career games)
Bad News- the O-line ranked 87th nationally in sacks allowed (30) last year, and 4-year punter Nic Constantinou must be replaced

10. Auburn (6-7)
Good News- the backfield is deep and talented led by senior Jarquez Hunter (909 yards, 7 TD’s) and special teams could be one the nation’s best in 2024
Bad News- senior QB Peyton Thorne was plagued by inconsistency tossing 10 INT’s last season and now will be working under a new coordinator in Derrick Nix

11. Kentucky (7-6)
Good News- the Wildcats' defense has talent across the board led by junior DT Deone Walker, a potential 2025 first round Draft pick
Bad News- the offense stumbled in 2023 ranking 119th in points per game (29.2) and will be breaking in both a new coordinator and QB

12. Florida (5-7)
Good News- senior QB Graham Mertz is coming off a solid first season in Gainesville (2,903 yards, 20 TD’s) and has an abundance of playmakers around him
Bad News- the back end of the Gators’ schedule is undoubtedly the toughest in the nation

Good News- junior dual-threat transfer QB Taylen Green (Boise State) is an ideal fit for new coordinator and former Razorbacks HC Bobby Petrino
Bad News- the defense is unproven at linebacker after losing its’ top 2 tacklers from 2023 to the transfer portal

14. South Carolina (5-7)
Good News- senior transfer RB Raheim Sanders (Arkansas) earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2022 and will have 4 returning O-lineman blocking for him
Bad News- freshman QB LaNorris Sellers has only 4 career pass attempts and lacks proven targets to throw to

15. Mississippi St. (5-7)
Good News- senior transfer QB Blake Shapen (Baylor) brings plenty of experience (36 career TD’s) to Starkville and will be joined by 1,000-yard transfer WR Kelly Akharaiyi (UTEP)
Bad News- zero, yes ZERO starters are back on offense and just 3 on the entire Bulldogs’ roster

16. Vanderbilt (2-10)
Good News- the Commodores landed a key addition from the transfer portal in senior Diego Pavia (NMST) who accounted for over 3,800 yards and 33 TD’s in 2023
Bad News- HC Clark Lea’s reluctance to adopt NIL/transfer portal in his first 3 years has left the program lagging well behind the rest of the SEC
