Marquette- the Golden Eagles rank 322 in rebound margin, defense has improved as of late but still ranks outside the top 240 in opponent FG%, average free throw shooting team at only 72%, won 6 big east games by 2 points or less including a 72-70 OT win over 9th seeded St. John’s in the Big East Quarterfinals
2. Kansas State- the Wildcats rank outside the top 280 in turnovers per possession on offense, non-conference strength of schedule ranks 295th and 8 losses in conference play is still a lot for a 3 seed regardless of how strong the Big 12 was this season
3. Northwestern- the Wildcats rank near the bottom of college basketball in FG% on offense and are a below average rebounding team, faded down the stretch losing 4 out of their last 5 and needed a win at Rutgers in the regular season finale to avoid falling to the ninth seed in the Big Ten Tournament
4. Missouri- the Tigers are atrocious defensively ranking outside the top 280 in opponent FG% and points allowed per game, rank 350 out of 363 teams in rebound margin at minus 7
5. Maryland- the Terrapins are very average offensively ranking outside the top 180 in FG%, assists per possession. and points per game, went 3-10 against quad 1 teams and lost 5 conference games by double digits
